About
Greetings and Salutations!
I’m JP Rindfleisch IX, author of the LGBT Cozy Suburban Fantasy called Mandrake Manor, co-author to a Paranormal Humor serial called NRDS: National Recently Deceased Services with Jeff Elkins, co-author to a massive Dark Urban Fantasy project called the Leah Ackerman series with A.B. Cohen, and author to a collection of short stories in varying genres.
I’m also an occasional co-host on the Dialogue Doctor Podcast where we talk about the craft of writing and publishing. I’ve previously been a co-host of Write Away Podcast with author Crys Cain and the Serial Fiction Show with Christine Daigle where we talked with serial fiction authors on their stories and craft.
Lastly, I offer coaching and story diagnostic services to authors. I have high input on the CliftonStrengths poll, and I use that to my advantage, along with the structure of the Three Story Method, to help others pull themselves out of knots and get to writing compelling stories.
I’m based in Rockford, Illinois, however my roots are all in Wisconsin. I love to travel and fall off the beaten path, finding hidden gems and other mysteries. My other love is cooking, which I consider kitchen witchcraft. I’ve been vegetarian for ten years, and vegan for three, so my kitchen witchery skills include turning potatoes into nacho cheese and transfiguring wheat gluten into steak. I also enjoy relaxing with a book or comic and a glass of gin and tonic (Death’s Door is my preferred poison) or a Hefeweizen craft beer.
I am a fantasy genre junkie. I’ll dip my toes in other genres, but when I want to escape, I always lean on fantasy to take me away. Some of my favorite authors include Neil Gaiman, Garth Nix, Tamora Pierce, Brandon Sanderson, Max Gladstone, Lev Grossman, V.E. Schwab, and Robert Jordan.
I live with my partner of eleven years in Rockford, Illinois with our menagerie of pets. This includes a cheeky husky, grumpy miniature dachshund, fastidious feline, talkative African grey parrot, and a reclusive Quaker parrot.
I’ve always dreamed of writing my own books, including some terrible angsty ones back in my teenage years that will never see the light of day, but now that fantasy is becoming a reality. So, come on in. Sit down by the fire and let me tell you a tale.
