About JP Rindfleisch IX — Cozy Queer Fantasy Author
Hi, I'm JP Rindfleisch IX (he/they), and yes, I am actually the ninth. I am a writer of cozy queer fantasy and strange fiction: stories about grief, transformation, and queer joy, wrapped in botanical magic, found families, and a dash of weirdness.
My first solo novel, Mandrake Manor, won the 2025 IPPY Silver Medal in LGBTQ+ Fiction and is the first book in the Henbane Hollow series. I am also the author of Mosswood Apothecary and The Alchemist Baker of Rosen in the Tales of Valdaes series, the co-author of the paranormal comedy NRDS: National Recently Deceased Services with Jeff Elkins, and the author of the writing craft guide Story Hypothesis. I also co-wrote the Leah Ackerman series, a dark paranormal academy series, with A.B. Cohen. I am represented by Elaine Spencer of The Knight Agency, who placed my audiobooks with Tantor Media and Simon Maverick.
Away from fiction, I am a Three Story Method certified editor and a Dialogue Doctor, co-host of Write Wrong Repeat, and the founder of Rockford Area Writers, a community of 80+ local authors and creatives here in Illinois. When I'm not writing, you can usually find me wandering forest trails, cooking vegan kitchen witchery (potatoes-as-nacho-cheese is a specialty), or hosting writing sprints on Twitch as CheshirePope. I live with a very opinionated husky and an even more talkative African grey parrot.
Coming next: The Alchemist Baker of Rosen on December 8, 2026, and Belladonna Bed & Breakfast on February 28, 2027. Questions? The reader FAQ has answers, and every book is on my Amazon author page.
